Alright so driving to work yesterday morning, the fox drove perfectly, after getting out of my morning meeting, wouldn't start...she wasn't priming, so to get home quick i used the rubber mallet to the gas tank method and worked like a charm, this is obviously a temporary quick fix solution, so i was curious to what the permanent fix would be, would i have to swap the fuel pump out?

if banging on the tank worked, then yes, most likely the pump is bad.
