looking for some suggestions on fixing ac
I have a 95 GT had it for about 6 years and ac has not worked since i have had it. I want to get the ac going but not sure where to start. I turn the ac on and from what i notice i dont hear the clutch engaging. So i am looking for the pressure cycle switch...and dont know where that is. Also i am pretty sure that one of my lines are going to leak because it got kinked when i reinstalled my motor. How much of a pain is it to make new lines for the passenger side?

first check to see if there is any refrigerant in it, hook a set of gauges and read the internal pressure or simpley depress the schredor valve for a brief second and see if a quick blast shoots out

If you start bypassing switches to get the compressor to run with no refrigerant, you are going to blow the compressor. Why would you want the compressor to run? No refrigerant in system = no a/c. Same as no gas in the car = no engine running. As for the line that got damaged you will need to buy a new one. And no you can not just make up these lines. I recommend you take it and have it looked at by someone experienced. If you do not know what you are doing, then it will more than likely just cost you more in the long run. Before you ask, no you just can't go and buy a can of refrigerant at the parts store and dump it in. Your system needs to be leaked checked , evacuated and then recharged to the proper amount of ounces for your car.

listen to him^^^^^^^^^ the flow of freon in a a/c sysytem is what carries the oil throughout the system to lubricate it/ such things as the compressor, run it without/ jumping switches to run compressor is.......ummmm lets say not very bright

I didn't want to run the system just wanted to see if it would kick on for a second to rule out another possible problem but ill wait till I fix the lines and take it in for leak test. as for the lines the reason I asked about making them is because I have checked a lot of parts stores and they all just reference back to a make ac lines kit does anyone know of a place that does make the lines on passenger side?

Getting the compressor to come on is running the system. The switches are among things a safety device to shut down and protect the compressor under a low charge situation. Think of it this way you would not run your engine without oil in it. Why because it will be damaged. Unless you are experienced in a/c repair and have gauges, running the compressor is not going tell you anything. There still could be a multitude of problems. Examples of such, compressor runs but does not pump, to holes in the evaporator or condenser. Without proper training and gauges , more than likely you will damage something else and make the repair more expensive.

I agree with most of what's said here. Running the compressor without the freon in it is only going to cost you more. It's also gonna be easier to just buy a new line and put it in. Just be sure to be gentle while disconnecting any of lines, and replace any o-rings. The aluminium used for the lines isn't the strogest stuff in the world so it's ridiculously easy to strip the fittings. Be sure to use two wrenches and WD-40 if necessary. I've never heard of anybody making their own lines either. That just sounds unsafe, IMO. I do a lot of A/C work at my job, and it's simply going to save you a ton of headaches to shell out the cash and get it fixed the right way the first time.
