ecm ground problems
well my fox went stupid on me and started flooding horribly for no reason. found a fuse shot and replaced it but it didnt make a diff. one of my honda friends had a wiring problems and his was flooding like this and he found a ground wire broke in two. so i got to checking some stuff and thinking and put a ground from the battery ground to the ground prong on the eec test thing under the hood and it started running normal. i was wondering if there is a fusable link somewhere or a ground on the ecm that i cound jump to the frame or something to fix it?
At the negative battery connection is two smaller wires that go to radiator support. One of these wires is the ground for the computer. Check for continuity from pin 40&60 at computer to wire at negative battery. No continuity...fix open circuit. Have seen a ground run to test connector as you stated to make a bad computer still function. One time. When I disconnected it would not operate. The computer was defective. Might check ground to O2 sensors. First run the EEC1V test. Then post results.
thanks man. i will try to check the wires today but i cant run a eec test. i have tried using a test light and the check engine light but it doesnt work either way. but i tried to do that before it started all this so i didnt think the ecm was bad. it might be defective. it would run when it was flooding but i had to idle it up just so i could drive it back home. and my car doesnt have o2 sensors. whoever put the exhaust on before me didnt put them on
well it hasnt had o2 sensors for a year now yet it run suprisingly good. but i found a un insulated wire at the ecm and used a ohm meter to check it and it had no ground at all when i undone the jumper wire i put on. so i just put a self tapping screw in the body and put the wire around it. still working till i can do the motor swap
