Default Scanners can't read any signal O_o

I have ab 88' GT and when the mechanics try to read the ECV's signal, nothing happens. The engine is almost dead (swapping this week) and I've accidently plugged my battery on the wrong side. Still, I don't see why I can't read the engine's computer signals. Could the computer be dead? Could the car have been rebuilt and been put on a serial from another car? Thanks a lot!

So the car was running before you disconnected the battery? You mentioned you 'accidently plugged your batter on the wrong side' you mean you reversed the polarity (switched positive and negative) or just unplugged/plugged the '+' instead of the '-'.

If you did reverse polarize it, if you're lucky, you just blew a fuse. If the fuse is fine, you may have fried the ECU (not V) and perhaps even the alternator.

Gonna need more info to call it.

if the car will still run, i doubt that you fried the eec. even if you did reverse the polarity, i am sure there is a fuse or two between the battery and the eec, for just this reason. Had the same problem with my 89, turned out to be a bad ground. I am with derf, need more info. Has the car always been like this or just since you reversed polarity?
