Default no spark

I change my distributor n coil on my 93 they r telling me I don't have any spark on my #1 wire n told me I could check it my self by putting the wire on top of the intake n turning the key. So I came home n no spark on any of the wires but the car turns on so im probably doing something wrong. I also bought another coil n the same no spark. Can any body tell what im doing wrong or what could be wrong that I need to check.

you can check if your spark is jump a big enough gap to produce a good enough spark. Also check if your spark plugs are gapped correctly. If the parts guy said they are pre gapped, tell him BS.

The car wouldn't start if there was no spark. If it simply isn't sparking every time the car would run really rough.

If you put in a new distributor, what did you set the timing at?

Also, I'd make sure the plugs are gapped correctly.

Have you replaced the plug wires anytime recently? It could very well be the wires.

Reset timing with spout disconnected. If not you are 20* retarded.

Well that was a problem. We disconnected the spout and it would shutdown #1 wire, so how else can I do it to set the timing. I have a vortech supercharge and a msd btm box.
