Default Heat and road noise from shifter hole

After swapping from an doa to a t-5, the console is generating more heat. It's not unbearable but it's also louder than it used to be ( road noise and engine music.) Is there some sort of heat shield or dynomat I should be using? Thanks. And thanks Addermk for the other info on the 95 t-5.

^ what mjr said... in addition to the leather upper shift boot, there's a lower boot that goes in there. if you have an aftermarket shifter on that, you might need to cut some of the rubber to clear it... i had that problem with my 5.0 pro shifter when i had my t5.
