Default 347 combo...sugestions/opinions

As i say in many of my replies, I'm having a 347 built. With the great info gathered from this forum I decided on the following: the motor will have a 9.0cr or 9.5 at most (possible blower in the future). I'll be going with forged pistons with reliefs for 2.02 T/W heads. It'll have a forged crank with forged I-beams (H-beams do not seem necessary for motors under 1000hp). T/W o-ringed heads, the stock Cobra lower will be ported, the upper will have the TB opening ported to 79mm, a BBK 75mm TB, and a custom cam (most likely from FTI).

What I want to know is things like what type of cam spec should I be looking at? I will be using the Cobra pcm, so I believe I need a LSA of 15 or more. How much lift and duration should I consider.

I am also looking at new headers. Unsure if I sould just change to larger Shorties or go to LT's which would mean a new H-pipe as well (more $). The car will be 95% street driven with occassional track use. I want to keep the 3.55 gears and 77mm MAF. I have 24lb injectors but would would also consider uograding. Unsure of which to use. A 255 fuel pump is on order. I am on a flexible budget which means I'd like to re-use/modify what I can and replace(buy) if absolutely necessary. I am also aware of the minor things like new ARP bolts and gaskets.

well for the cam i would call comp cams and they will be able to hook u up with a cam that will match your set up. that is what i plan on doing after i get my heads, that is all i need to complete my 347 heads and cam.
also have you done any suspension mods? things like upper and lower control arms sub frames ive got a tublar k member and coil overs im also getting an anti roll bar for the rear. thats just my 2 cents

I have the uppers and lowers in the rear upgraded using Steeda parts. The front has not been touched yet, but I am thinking of using the 03-04 Cobra A-arms which is supposed to be an upgrade for 94-95 mustangs. I also want to change the entire steering rack or maybe just the outer tie rods and related bushings for a sturdier more responsive feel.

What heads are you gonna use. And do you have an idea as to what lift and duration you r thinking about using for your cam?

i know that flaming river sells a quick ratio rack and also if you dont already get a bump steer kit there aval from steeda and other places.
i will be going with AFR 185's, all of my internals are forged also i hav SRP pistons that i can use up to a .600 lift and up to 2.08 valves plenty for me my rods and crank are eagle.

I take it that based upon your call sign you have an 88GT, which means you have the Fox (A9L) computer which is suposed to be more cam friendly. My cobra's cam came stock with a LSA of 18 degrees, which means that I would need a cam with a similar LSA for idle quality (w/o using TwEECer). My kit is also an eagle kit however it comes with JE forged pistons. I'm not sure what the reliefs are standard cause I want to use T/W heads with 2.02. I not sure of the max lift either, I was hoping it would be .600 also and use a cam close to that lift. I was told that FTI makes very good custom cams based upon your application. I haven't contacted any of the vendors (comp cams, Crane, Lunati) yet.

I really don't think that you'll need AFR 185's or a 2.08 valve for that 347 unless you are going to do nothing but race at REAL high RPM'S
Just my .02 worth

Nope, I'll be using 2.02 o-ringed T/W's.
