lets think about this for a minute or so.......bypassing the smog pump what does it exacty do........ it helps push fresh air into the motor to help with with cooling off the egr system along with cooling off the cats. now if the exhaust gases arent coold off they will eventually cause buildup. with buildup you will have issues like overheating since there blocked passages in tehy heads and in het crossover tube. ppl bypass it for teh track but not for DD. unless you totally remove all smog like I did and some others then bypassing it fora DD is pointless and eventually cause issues. i can show you a head, crossover tube, egr valve that had a bad smog pump and what it did

also the above statement was messing with ya, if yo udidnt knwo that already

and if yo uwant to go to stangnet and get info atleast go to corral

I know myself, as a tech, would want to know why the coolant gauge is going up before dumping money into my car, especially if it's going up with accessories and what not. I'd find out what the coolant temp is at with a temp gun or some other method, then get a mechanical water temp gauge.

Hey, why not take the old 'stat and use a pan of water and a candy thermometer and see if it's opening before you buy a new one??
Also, if you live in an area where they are going to require an 'IM 240' type check you will have a future problem with stuff....

Well a new stat is only like 5 bucks so I went ahead and bought it. Like I said, even if that isn't the problem it needs to be done, they should be changed out like every 90,000 miles and I've got 140,000. I dunno what an IM 240 type check is but I don't have to do emissions I live in the boonies and I have yet to hear anything about it. I'll bet you between all the stuff the sensors that I have ordered and everything that I'm replacing I'll get it fixed.

Now when I start the car and I give it gas when it's kinda warm it'll almost bog or it sounds like it. Would this be a probelm with the sending unit? The coolant temp. sending unit is coming in tomorrow and I was told that it controls A/F ratio, timing and some other important stuff, I'm really hoping that this is my problem because I disconnected the wire for the sending unit and the problem stopped and I think that if it was anything other than the sending unit it would've still been acting wierd. So idk.

Bypassing the smog will not affect anything at all.....Cars didnt even have them until the 80s and they didnt clog anything up.I wonder why you(quik) would say that seeing that you know alot about cars and I would think that you would know that you do not need that pump at all.The reason for it is to pass emmisions but if you dont have them in your state its useless and robs HP if anything

it pumps air into the heads to help with the recircualted exhaust gases. i have a set of heads and a valve that were a result of a bad smog pump. and because of this had to replace the head gasket since the motor overheated and ruined the gasket so i had coolant going into my exhaust and causing it to smoke

but what do i know
