Door Alignment
Hi Guys n gals this is my first post here.
I am going to attempt to rebuild the 89 gt convertible I have purchased. its in good condition but needs lots of tlc. So with that here is my first of many questions.
I have researched how to align the doors properly and from what I understand if there is any play in the door itself then the hinges need replacing. Is this the case? I have noticed on both doors that when you open them they drop about 1/4 inch. If I lift up on the door there is a little bit of play before it actually starts to pull on the car.
Many thanks for all the help.....

It all depends on where the play is coming from. The play could be a damaged hinge, loose hinge mounting bolts, or worn hinge pin bushings. The latter two are the most common and very inexpensive to replace. If the play comes from the hinge pin bushings then you’ll need to replace the bushings & hinge pins. Good luck...

It's most likely the hinge pins and bushings...very common on fox bodies. I just recently got this kit for mine http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...979-93-Mustang
