well they do call it a MANual rack for a reason...a man can drive it just fine at any speed..deleting my p/s was the best mod ever no more whining pump and no more leaks plus there is more room and it looks cleaner

Baaaa... My S10 was factory manual steering ("correct" manual ratio) and I put Z28 wheels and tires on it (about 2.5" wider than stock)... I taught 2, now ex, girlfriends to drive manual transmission in that truck (and a few to drive stick... HA!!)... Manual steering isn't any big deal as long as you plan your start/stop turns a little. As soon as the vehicle is rolling, it's really not that different other than a million turns to lock (with a "correct" manual steering ratio).

I'll repeat myself here... That said... I like power steering and am in no hurry to delete it from my street cars. If your pump whines, replace it... If it leaks, fix it. I think I have a little over $100 in my remanned pump and new lines. A new power rack is around $200 the last time I looked. BFD...

(With that said... (again) I saw some knuckle dragger driving a 4 cylinder Fox attempt a turn that I knew damn well he couldn't cut... I then watched him stage a *4* point turn with traffic waiting... Manual steering sucks hardcore in those moments... It also sucks if the rear starts getting out of shape in a hurry under an aggressive or misguided right foot.)

i will have to say, i cant imagine what losing control of the rear end would be like with manual steering.. i dunno if it would be way harder to gain control? i dunno.. never thought about it..

but.. again.. i dont want PS.. its not bc its broken.. or maybe it is.. i dont know.. its got PS, but its not working.. it has no fluid.. and i like it. O_o

I purposely slid my Rx and liked the feel of manual steering during tail slides, but have a friend who did not so its all personal tastes. When your already moving power steering doesn't really do a whole lot if your car is properly aligned, the only time it's really noticeable is full stop and if you have alignment issues.

ive never seen it in a mustang but on other cars i know people who have just left fluid in the rack and capped of where the lines go in and out. you can then remove the pump and lines and save some weight and have the rack still get fluid

You can't cap the lines. If you cap the lines when you turn the fluid will have no where to go and will blow something from pressure, I just removed the lines from the rack but if you want to do it right disconnect the lines from the pump and get a union to connect those lines together so when you turn the fluid from one side pushes to the other.
