Default Head Material

Hello all, I was told that it wasn't a good idea to put on aluminum heads with a cast iron block. I have a stock small block 5.0L. Then I hear the aluminum heads are great for weight loss and heat dissipation but it requires the proper gasket so that the heads don't heat up and warp. What are my options if I wanted to go aluminum? Thanks

Whoever told you that does not know what they are talking about. Go buy your aluminum heads of choice and matching gaskets of choice, e.g. Fel Pro, and bolt them on your Mustang cast iron block 5.0.

who ever told you that shouldn't be allowed to look at your car any more. Much less give advice.

I put aluminum performer heads on my old big block 460 iron block with the standard fel-pro gasket set. never had a problem .

do you know how many factory produced cars in the market have a cast iron block and aluminum heads?? Do I really need to name all of them?? lol Better run from the guy who gave you said misinfo......and you can use the stock 9333pt1 gaskets on them as well..no special gasket needed

That was a common thought about 40-50 years ago, lots of stuff has changed since then.
I'd also recommend using Fel-Pro gaskets.
New head bolts of high quality aren't a bad idea either, something like ARP makes.

ARP head bolts and Felpro gaskets on my iron block with aluminum TrickFlow heads and no issues at all.
