Default 95 5.0 rocker adjustment

Ok bought this 95 gt the other day and now I've got a tapping sound in the pass valve cover. The guy I got it from said it's the original engine but he put eldebrock valve covers and swapped it over to a 650 holley carb. My question is assuming this is stock how do I adjust or tighten the rocker arms? I've seen a post that you back the nut off til you can spin the pushrod then gradually tighten until you can't spin rod then go a 1/4 turn more. And done. Is this correct or is there more to it? A step by step would be nice bc not only is it annoying but I don't want to mess up the motor as its a daily driver. I am a mechanic but have never messed with this stuff. A little more someone mentioned sticky lifter. Said to drain oil change filter. Fill with a quart of marvel oil and 4 quarts of oil. Run for a bit. So I did I let it idle for about an hour and the noise at idle disappeared. The ticking while revving was there but not as loud. So I drove it around the block. Come back and it was loud again. So I drained everything in it. Changed filter put in half quart of Lucas , all I had, and little over 4 quarts on 10w30. Noise still there.

if it's stock stamp steel pedastal mount rockers, there is no adjustment, hydraulic lifters take up the slack, as long as none of the pedastal bolts are loose or a lifter is collapsed....also make sure you are not misdiagnosing a lifter tap for what many later come to find out is a exhaust leak at the header flange. which can quiet down as motor heats up and things expand, thus sealing better

Well I haven't pulled off the valve cover yet. But I thought of an exhaust leak but could feel one or see any signs of one. Plus the noise never stops. I've had a feel other people listen to it and said either a lifter or rocker arm. So if is the stock rocker can I ran the engine and tighten the nut down til it stops ticking?

no....no adjustment on stock, read my post again and disect it! you will not feel or see exhaust leaks often, especially if they are on the underside.
