six-speed on a 5.0L
I am looking into a few different engine swaps for my car and one of the options is a 5.0L out of a 87-93 Mustang. The Mustang engine is the only option I am looking at that I don’t know how to put a 6-speed tranny on. While I am swapping the engine, I would like to upgrade to a 6-speed tranny. Is there any way to bolt up a 6-speed to the back of the 5.0L?

I'm sure there are adapter plates out there to mount anything you want to a 5.0, a quick Google search will let you know.
Just curious why you'd want to though. The T5 is a pretty decent tranny, light, and can take some pounding with street tires. Unless your looking for super overdrive or just want a 6-speed to be different?
Good luck in your search, and welcome to the forum.

The engine would be going in my e36 (3-sereis BMW form the 90’s) and the only way to have a stock 6-speed is to import a euro M3. You can also take a 6-speed out of e46 330 or M3 and bolt it to the stock engine, but it is cost prohibitive for the performance gains, so it is extremely rare to see a 6-speed in an e36. Having a 6-speed in an e36 would be real cool, plus it could help keep the highway cruising RPMs down. Also 6 gears just feel like the right number of gears to me.
