Default New to car world?

alright i've been into the offroad lifestyle with dirtbikes and quads and such. i am currentley in a technical high school for auto. but anyway i've been looking at trucks for my first car like the k5 blazer or bronco but now i'm thinking a little muscle car i can always borrow my dads suburban if i want to go off road could you guys tell me any pluses and negs. with the 5.0's i was either looking for one around 88'ish' or 96'ish' not as much in between you know give or take a few years but i like the older ones more around 88' again give or take a few years but that same style thanks.

Nice to have you on the forum. The bodystyle you are talking about is called the Fox. Ford made the Fox Mustang from 1979 until 1993. In 1994, Ford came out with a new stang, called the SN-95, but kept the 5.0 in the car until 1995. There is no 1996 5.0. I have a 1994 GT, and the only real downside is pretty bad gas milage, and the car isn't to great in the winter. Outside of those two, I love the car. The 5.0 is a really strong and hard running engine, and the cars themselves are very well built. The Fox body stangs are very responsive to mods, and you can do alot on these cars for very little money when compaired with other cars. If you go to look at one, make sure you check it out before you buy. Good luck.

Stay away from 96-98 first years of the 4.6 and when you do things its a pain like when you do gears you have to have the speedometer redone.

When you do gears in any car you have to get a new speedmeter gear or it reads wrong. But yeah - the 96-98 4.6 cars aren't nearly as good as the 99+ ones. But who are we kidding? Get a 5.0.

nice to have u aboard, i recently bought a 1990 notch back 5.0 they are great cars , fast very well built, the 1990-1992 have forged pistons so i would look for 1 in that year, the notches are built more stiff b/c of less glass, the biggest thing to look for is rust and check the oil and under the car try to see if the guy beat the **** out of the car... good luck

yea bald rear tires is a no buy for me

Hey I was in your shoes once... I went through 4 Jeeps that I built to take offroad (TJ, WJ, ZJ 5.9L, and a XJ). I had Jeep buddies and I had the muscle car buddies. Finally one day after getting fet up with dumping a butt load of money into all these Jeeps just to take offroad and tear them up (with the exception of the 5.9L - it was a street sleeper) I decided to do away with offroading and get into cars. Plus it got to the point where I didn't even wanna be around my car friends bc they'd just make me sick with envy. I miss it every now and then but I still drive for my buddy in some rockcrawling competitions while he spots which seems to make it easier. You'll soon find it's the best thing in the world being able to cruise around town in a nice sounding car, go to cruise-ins, and having all the Mustangs give you the thumbs up or wave (I make sure to do the same)...
