Default long tubes or short tubes??

Im getting a motor and its got 350Hp to the wheels and makes about 400 hp to the crank. The motor now has long tubes but they are looking rough so im thinking about putting my shorties on there. Would this hurt the performance. Its basically the GT-40 crate motor with Ported GT-40 heads, Ported and polished GT-40 intake and all the EGR, AC, Smog, and a couple other things gone. has the F-303 cam and the ford 1.6 roller rockers. Let me know what you think so i know what to order. The car sounds bad as hell and is pretty fast. It went a 12.0 With a completly gutted 91LX and slicks. I plan on putting it in my 94 Gt so i know it wont be as fast but she should still get on with it..Thanks for the replys

I know the magazines show a few HP difference between the 2. I have had both on my car and I have not been able to "feel" the difference. Shorties are much easier to deal with it you already have the pipes for shorties.

Yes very true about having the mid section and everything. Is there much sound difference between the 2?

i think have heard alot of different exhaust...to be honest as long as your running a good system then your good with sound reguardless of what header you run...but i believe that the long tubes give a little louder roar.....

It depends on what shorties your talking about. The original factory shorties? There isn't much comparison between the factory shortes and long tubes. If you talking about a decent aftermarket shorty header like Bassani or BBK the comparison to long tubes is negligable. The factory pieces are very restrictive. Junk'em.

Yeah i got the BBk equal length shortie headers. Hey how much time do slicks take off from the 1/4 mile. Say the car runs a 12.0 on slicks, what would it be on some ET streets. any guesses?

You can usually know a couple tenths off of the 1/4 if you know how to launch with them properly.
