Default 1st mustang

sup guys...I'm thinkin bout ditchin my sc300 for a 88-92 mustang 5.0...I've got a couple in mind right now but two have rebuilt engines with around 50k miles and then I think I found the perfect one a '90 with 52k an looks (from pictures) like it's in good condition and it only costs 6 grand which is about what Im looking to spend...does anybody kno any common problems with the mustangs from this time? cuz I've got pretty bad luck with buyin a car and hella **** goes wrong with it...any input would help...thanks

i would say buy mostly stock....heavily modded car will sound like a good deal, but probably someones headache.
people don't give away a few thousand in parts to be nice.

look at the floor pans under the seats, rust in the hatch/trunk seam around the edge.

rust in the qtr's , stay away from the automatic unless your rich, thats about it.

do a carfax

i have an 86 GT EFI 5.0L over 200k miles on the engine and drivetrain. the car is in very good condition. the tranny and rear end do have their problems due to wear but thats expected. i would say the fox body mustangs are a very well put together vehicle and can last if taken care of.

Buy a Mustang, I don't think you can do better in the used hi-performance car market just now.
I would stay away from the heavily modded car too.......

Get an auto, get a PA rebuild kit, and your set.
