V6 tranny Vs V8
i did my v8 swap on my 95....i still have the V6 5-speed transmisson..would it be worth the money to get one from a V8...would it make the car accelerate any faster..i think the V8 is stronger but from what i've read the gears are the same?

RE: V6 tranny Vs V8
yes your correct.
no it won't make a diff on performance. they are geared the same.
the 3.8 is rated to 265 ft/lbs
and the 5.0 t5 is rated 300 ft/lbs
personally i would run it til you broke it.
the '85-'89 t5's were rated at 265 as well, so it's nothing to shrug off.....still apretty good trans.
then when or if you break it, rebuild it to 5.0 specs if you don't replace it.
see what the tag number is to be sure...2nd row of numbers...there will be #13-52 XXX
the 3 digits where i put XXX is the tranny number
what is it?

RE: V6 tranny Vs V8
I can't remember, but I thought the V6 and V8 trannys had different length input shafts? I do know the 4 banger vs V8 does for sure along with gearing differences and thought that input shaft length was critical? Just wondering.......
