Default best long tube setup?

I want long tube headers, but cant decide what to go with. I prefer BBK, but MAC is just as good, so i'v heard, and there cheaper. also, should I go with chrome, HTS, or jet black coated? best bang for the buck here?
also, x-pipe or h-pipe? for long tubes that is. am I going to see a big hp jump with longtubes, off road x/h pipe and flows am. thunder series?

One, I personally wouldnt go with MAC. Their coatings burn away pretty quick, they are pretty difficult to install, and they will hang very low. To the point where you can see your whole exhaust just from looking at the car at straight up standing height. Also, I would def go with an h-pipe. In my opinion, they sound ALOT better. The only good things that I can say about MAC is that they sound really good and they are cheap (You can PM me if you want a soundclip of my 88GT w/ MAC LT's, MAC Pro-Chamber H Pipe & Flows) Go with BBK.

See I put my Mac in and from what everyone says it fit horribly. I threw my car on my buddys lift and it took an hr and 10 min to get my exhaust and h-pipe on. Also Tucked my exhaust away pretty good.......I also say by the better product for yor car becuae you;ll have it for a while, But i think Mac is pretty good...

I'm not trying to bash MAC or anything I'm just saying that their coating burnt away quicker than others and their fit was far from great (I have an auto though so that does make a big differnce considering they are routed totally different and theres not as much clearance w/ a 5spd). And they hung low on my car (could also be because I have an auto).

I've never heard any complaints about BBK products or their quality. Summit has the chrome L/T's for $239 and they'll charge you $9 handling....that's not too bad.

The mac's are JUNK....I've had a couple of there products including headers and there awful..Not to mention where they don't have a nice flange connecting the primary tubes together they have a bad problem of warping if ever removed after first install...And they also have been know to start to leak also because of the primary tubes getting out of "shape".Now the bbks are awesome for the price not to mention been of and on a couple of times and still fit like new..But i would look into some type of coating because chrome and headers do not mix...

Default RE: best long tube setup?

I recently got some bbk longtube headers and shorty x pipe,
the drivers header lined up perfect, but the passenger side one was too close to the floor, so I got the place to exchange it with another one, and the second one fit better but it was still about 3/4 inch too far to the outside. so I had to use ratchet straps to get everything lined up, then after bolting on the x pipe, I found it too was touching the floor, I just wrapped it in header wrap, and left it.

it is louder now, and instead of having that raspiness at 1200 -1500rpm it moved up to 2500-2800 rpm.
