Help with idle, not IAC, how do i read OBD I codes? Plz help
Hey all. To make a long story short, my car is idling erraticly, going back and forth from about 600 to 1400, up and down up and down. I just replaced the plugs, wires, cap and rotor. I put on a new IAC, and tried a new TPS. Car is still idling erratically, and when I drive the motor randomly cuts out for a second. The CHECK ENGINE light pretty much stays on constantly, it will quickly turn off when the car idles down to 600 but immeadiately comes back on. What else could be wrong? I dont know how to read the engine codes, no one has an OBD I reader anymore.
Is there a way to jumper the OBD test port like a GM and read how many times the engine light flashes?
What else could be wrong with the car?
Thanks much all
dave

Get yourseld a OBD reader, I use Auto Xray, it's great. You'll need a Haynes of Chiltons to tell you what the codes mean, I think, it's been a long time since I had to use my scanner. hope this helps.

you can get a code reader at advance auto parts and autozone. Also since its not the IAC or the TPS it could be the PVC Valve and screen in the lower intake or the EGR valve
