Dirty MAF?

Dirty MAF?
I heard some talk of people having trouble with dirty MAFs. I'm not talking about the chump that stole your girlfriend that summer; I'm talking about the sensor. My car idles a bit rough sometimes (and uses a bit more gas than I'd like), even after a complete tuneup. I'm just starting to consider that it is either my MAF or O2 sensors. Do MAFs ever need to be cleaned? Thanks again.

RE: Dirty MAF
They do get dirty and can be cleaned. But be very careful not to break the wires. I take a biss card and tear the corner off and use this to clean the wires. Not a big piece just about a 1/4 inches from the corner small piece and wipe the wires off. Just be carefull and you should be fine.

RE: Dirty MAF
If you want to test your MAF then TAP it with a screw driver and if your RPM's start to change then its your MAF. I believe your engine light would come on if you had a problem with the O2 sensor but you can lways try it anyways. Its wierd when I disconnect my batter froa bout 15 minutes I will get better gas mileage, thats after I change something on the car.
