Default Coolant Coming Out of Exhaust

So its a 91 Mustang 5.0 GT with 98k on the engine. I had an overheating problem the other day - i opened the hood and it was a collapsed hose - top radiator hose. i replaced it - it was still overheating. i replaced the computer cooling temperature sensor - that wasn't the problem either. i then replaced the thermostat - it seemed to work but still the car was overheating and now coolant is coming out of both exhaust pipes - there was quite a puddle. i was told that i probably have blown a head - but the heads aren't aluminum they are steel - and i was told that the steel ones are somewhat indestructible and that i could've just blown the head gasket - which i heard is a cheap part but comes with harsh labor - are there ways of telling if its the actual heads that are blown or just the head gasket???? if it is the head gasket - what is the estimated laabor on fixing this - i would probably get my dad to fix it and would have to owe him big time! Please help me out - im a chick and I need a car to get to work - have a motorcycle accident injury and walking and bicycling is rough on the leg. Any help would be appreciated - oh and by the way im pretty much broke *due to the motorcycle accident* so the cheapest possible way to get the car running would be great!!!

how high did the temp get when it was overheating?

as for the blown head and head gasket i think the mechanics meant the same thing just two different ways of saying it.

the labor sucks but is pretty straight forward and easy but very time consuming. im sure with enough time and patients you can do it youself. there are tons of tech articles of getting to your heads and changing the gaskets. get a chiltons, that also works well. 20 dollars for a book and 20-50 for gaskets. you should be good. better than spending a 1G to go to a shop
