A/C Problem on 85 5.0
Any help with my A/C problem would be greatly appreciated.
I have an 85 5 speed (carbed). I was having a problem with the compressor not engaging when I would turn the A/C on. I discovered thatthe compressor clutch that was the problem, when I would tap it with myhand it would then engage. I got along for awhile using that techniqe, but the clutch stopped working altogether the other day. I purchased a new clutch and installed it and nowit does not work either. I tested the compressor connectionwith a Voltmeter and it's not getting any voltage. Next, I checked for voltage at the pressure switch connection and there's no voltage there either. I know the clutch works because I connected it directly to the batter and it engages that way. So I'm think a relay switch may be the problem, but I have no idea where it would be located on this vehicle, so any help locating it or any suggestions of what else it could be would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Yes, when the freon is low the pressure switch will cycle the compressor on/off. I have already checked the switch and that's not the problem. The compressor coil is not getting any voltage, so there's a relay or something that's fried in the wiring.

I roast in mine in stop and go traffic in 90 to 95 degree heat with no A/C so I can't even imagine 110 degree heat ...at that point rolling the windows down would have no effect.....so I understand why you'd want a/c back asap
