Default Removing heater core.

Does removing the heater core and the ac add any extra hp? i just bought an 89 gt and this guy took them off for more power i guess. ive had multiple people tell me it adds power and multiple people tell me it does nothing.

Unless it's a full drag car w/ a gutted interior, it's really a waste of time and effort IMO!! Sure, less weight, lower et's but what kinda power does it make? What's done to it?

For the temp guage check the ECT sensor. As far as removing that stuff the heater core probably doesnt do much if anything and the ac removal just frees up horsepower since there is less drag on the motor.

The ECT sensor has nothing to do w/ the temp gauge. It's for the ecm. The temp gauge has it's own sending unit.

A heater core doesn't weigh much anyway

You might as well just take a big crap before you run it... that would be equivalent to the weight saved by removing the core.
