RE: $5000 for Paint WTF
good paint work is not cheap its a lot of work and good paint cost $$$$ hell a gallon of DuPont'sbest clear is $200 with no hardeners for it.and I have seen base colors in the 500 for a gallon of paint. then you got primer, paper, sand paper, tape, reducers, bondo. As far as shops sucking up insurance money hell yea. you can turn out 5000 in collision work in a few days and a all over paint job a good one will take weeks to a month for a rel nice one. done right.unless you have done a paint job start to finish most people dont have a clue what it takes.

i definately agree that good paint job cost alot. my supplies were right on target with top quality the reason why i went with the place i did was quality. for the extra 3200 it would of cost me to get a "top quality" i doubt the average person would notice the difference and i doubt i would have unless he pointed it out to me. i would rather spend that money somewhere else.
it is hard to look at a paint job over the internet but whenever you go down tehre let me know and you can check my car out. i am like ten minutes away from the place so you can see in person what kind of quality it is. i have prepped one car before and i understand how much effort goes into it. they worked nonstop on my car for a week. i stopped by a couple times and checked on the progress and they were always working on it. they sanded hood, roof, and trunk to metal and everything else pretty close to it. they also primed it once then sanded it back down again and primed it again. then painted. i couldn't be happier with it... i don't even know the guys at that shop and was just a walk in customer so i didn't get a friendly break or anything. what was the bad stuff you heard about the shop? most of the people i talk to around here don't even know it is there nevermind having a opinioin on them.
