RE: Looking to get into 5.0s
Torque boxes are an easy fix buy some weld in battle boxes, and sub-frame connectors with the seat brace, aren't that much either,
You can't go wrong with the 5.0 great cars, easy to mod, easy to work on, and with the knowledge on this forum you can do about anything to your car.

Ahhh mazda rotaries, 60% of the time, they work every time...
I've had three Rx-7's and my mustang blows them all out of the freaking water, I had no problems finding a nice 5.0 in my budget, I guess my only advice would be,
Be patient, there are plenty of 5.0's out there.
Try not to buy somebody else's project with questionable work.
try and get all the service records you can so you know the history of the car.
decide exactly what you're looking for, Stock, modified, a drag car, a daily driver, full on race ??
Rust kills cars, you don't want any.
you don't want a car that's been driven hard in a previous life.
Be Patient again, search the forums, ask questions, don't rush into it and you won't get hosed.
The only real problem I've found is a tough clutch cable and my third gear sucks,,I can get a used tranny for 200 bucks and rebuild it for cheap though. and clutch cables are cheap too, and much easier than working on the mazda hydraulic system.

Dont get the BBK cable, its garbage... ****ing thing snapped. The durometer of the rubber was way soft on the firewall end.. The ford racing one feels hella better.

RE: Looking to get into 5.0s
In addition to the above advice I'd like to add, dont' buy an automatic. The AOD sucks.
Don't be afraid of a mod'ed car if it's the RIGHT one. I paid $8,000 for a one owner '93 LX hatch with 45,000 actual miles. Adding up and pricing all the add ons came to almost $16,000!!! That's add ons, doesn't include the price of the car. This car drives like a new one.
I wouldn't buy a blower car. Too easy to hurt 'em.

AOD really isn't as bad as it seems.
The ONLY thing I disliked about my car was the fact it has an AOD, but I still bought it. Way too clean to pass-up and the T-5 swap is cake.
