Very easy swap. You want to do your own suspesion depending on your intentions. So you know a 4 cyl can only be abused so much, 105 hp? Pick your parts and do it yourself
actually they were 88 hp ..that's what my92 was rated atbut if you had an svo then you got more hp

is there a tranny difference between the 4cylinder and 5.0 or is it the same trans (manual)
Its different but you can use the 2.3 tranny behind a 5.0 with the right throwout bearing.
I wouldnt recommend it though.

You will also need to upgrade the rearend if you get a 4cyl since they have a 7.5" and you would want a 8.8...

Some later 88's had maf also. But as stated i would not limit myself to only maf. 4 cyl conversions can get pricey. As in all our car's you wont get what you have in it if you decide to sell one day, but that holds particulary true for a conversion. The most important thing i pay attention to is the body and under carriage. Since you plan on building the motor up one day, that is not that important as long as the price is right. I'm no body man, i would not know where to start, so a foundation is more important to me than anything.
