Default RE: What heads?

I also recommend AFR heads just like folks already have.
The 165cc for 302 mild/moderate mods...
The 185cc units would be better IF you were supercharged and/or had more cubes... stroker or 351

The 165cc AFR heads for SBF come in two chamber cc; 58 & 60, also a Competition port job in 58cc

So you have three choices:

1)165cc Street Heads, Stud, 58cc 1402*
2)165cc Street Heads, Pedestal, 60cc 1472*
3)165cc Street Heads, Stud, 58cc 1404 CNC Competition Package Street Porting

well they are all available Pedestal or stud except the comp. it is only stud and is non emissions legal.

HERE is an article on the comp package 165, they are better without sacrifice, I would get them but im going 100% smog legal[][&o]

AFR's are nice, I have the 165's. You should also look into Edelbrock, they have a new head out now, the Pro Port CNC(a Performer RPM version). It's new enough that it's not listed in the head section on their site, but from the limited info I have found, they're basically like a Performer RPM head, but all factory CNC'd and WELL designed. 2 flavors, 170cc intake port(like the standard Performer/RPM head) and a 190cc intake port for 351W/strokers. Based on the flow data Edelbrock has listed for the 190's, they're pretty badass heads, even outflowing the Victor Jrs which have a port that's 20cc's larger. Even though there's no flow data, I'd imagine the 170's would perform equally as well. And all of edelbrock's heads are good quality and very well priced.

This is one of the few sites that list these new heads, which btw are a 51 prefix part number(51309 and 51319, 09 is 190cc and 19 is 170cc). http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...;ProdID=218948 This one listed here is the 190cc version. Pretty dang good for a small port inline valve head.

If your pistons arent notched and you dont want to get them notched then you a lil limited, Trickflow TW, AFR 165s, I believe Edelbrock has a head with a 1.9 intake valve too. If you don't mind getting them notched you have a larger selection, you can go AFR 185s, RHS 180 heads, Patriot just came out with a good head, the list goes on. Going with a larger head would give you more room for improvement also.
