Just painting it is $700.
That doesnt include bodywork or prep.
Wonder why they put from a few hundy to 1,000+ on the website?

Ugg
Thats the real lousy paint job without clearcoat for a few hundred.

oh yea i want it to look decient.

I can get a 87 5.0 for 1200 Maybe 1000 looks like the body is good but the guy said
"The car has been sanded down, I didn't primer it so people could see that the body is acutally pretty clean and bondo free"

im not sure how much paint is left.. Would can's look ok?

My friend had two cars paint by Maaco and they looked damn good. I got side swipped [ sp ] and all the body shops want 5-10 grand to repaint my whole car. Maaco is doing it for 1900.

They are hit or miss, the shop I'm taking it to does a lot of work for dealerships and I've seen their work first hand. I'd take a Maaco paint job over Earl's crap any day. You get what you pay for and atleast Maaco doesn't price gouge just because they don't feel like painting a whole car.....look for a couple Maaco shops in your area, try to see some of their work and I'm sure it'll help you make up your mind.....

For what it's worth they should be able to atleast give you a paint job as good as you would get from the factory....

Iwouldn't go as far as saying that Maaco isfactory quality. I had my truck painted a few years back by Maaco and when I first got it back it looked amazing. I got the cheap job with clearcoat for about $500. It was guaranteed to stay shiny for 6 months. It stayed shiny for as long as they said it would...

These days it's still looking better than before it was painted but the paint has faded pretty well and I haven't waxed it in years because just buffing it takes paint off. I don't regret doing it because the truck isn't worth much and I had pretty much no money back in high school when I had it done. Long story short I have nothing against Maaco but I wouldn't have them paint a car I really cared about (ie. my Cobra).

Here's a comparison:
