Default QUESTION ON BALANCING ENGINE

Have a 5.0 that was balanced by drilling holes into the harmonic balancer, and the flywheel. What happens if I need to get a new flywheel? Does the entire engine have to be taken apart again for balancing?

They balanced the engine by drilling the balancer and flywheel? Or they balanced the flywheel and balancer?

You want to avoid taking material from the flywheel and balancer at all costs, its the worse thing you can do. If you need to replace either of those items you need to find a shop that can replicate the part you are replacing. These are wear items and you always want to take the material out of the crank when balancing.

Damage is done. The entire rotating assembly was balancedby the Flywheel and the Harmonic. Going to call that place and bitch! They also took some weight off from the crank as well, whick is ok. Exactly why I am asking, flywheels do wear out.

Yea, I am new to the area, and wasn't sure. I used to live 5 miles from DSS Racing. I know Tom the owner over there.Would be cool to still live there.
