Yeah, when my buddy and I did mine we had to use a 2ft. breaker bar and basically hang on it. Good thing he's about 270lbs. , but it's a pain! You could use an impact gun, but be carefull not yo over-torque.

if your doing it by hand tools= ain't goona happen if you have to do it on jack stands.. cause you need a long bar that bolts to pinion flange/tool to hold it in place....and then tighten it with a long braker bar in stages until I believe a break away torque of 22 inch lbs is obtained for a new bearing if installed at time....or easier way is use an impact gun and give it blips in stages.. but you'll need a inch lb torque wrench to know when proper preload is obtained

Yeah, to get them started usually requires north of 200ft-lbs. Just don't overtorque it, once the crush sleeve has been crushed too far, it's no longer usable, and you have to start over with a new crush sleeve. And the older flexing bar style(can't recall the actual name) inch-lbs wrenches are a good choice for checking rotating torque.

Thanks for the info, I'll make sure to pass this thread onto him. I know he tried for hours to get it done, no luck though...
