Default Heads

I have a basicaly stock 93 LX Notch. Only mods are BBK Headers, OR H-Pipe and Flowmaster exhaust. Other than that I have a BBK CIA. I am looking to get some more power out of my car for the summer. I dont have the money to do a complete HCI swap so I was going to start with the heads because from what I know they are holding the car back the most. I was curious to know what I shoud use. I dont want anything crazy because this is my daily driver. Also any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. BTW gears are on the way. I live in NH so Im sick of this damn snow. I cant wait for NED to open. Thanks Guys

GT40s aluminum or iron are a decent upgrade for the price, you can manage to get either for a grand or less. I got the aluminum gt40x for a grand from blueovalindustries. AFR is the top tier though, its hard to beat a cnc head if you got the money.

+1 on the gt40's

and if you go used, its not hard to find gt40 irons for $250!! (pretty solid gain of 25-40hp, depending on your situation, and tune)

Get GT40's if your on a budget and want to do it for a cheap price. If you want to do it right the first time, invest in a nice aluminum head. It may cost you more now, but it will give you something to grow into rather then grow out of. I highly recommend going with a set of Trickflow Twisted Wedges on a 302. They are one of the most affordable aluminum heads on the market as well as one of the best.

I know a lot of people have dogged the Patriot series heads but I have a set and have been very, very happy with them. They really woke the car up. For the money they are a great alternative.

Thanks for the input guys. The only question I have is with swapping the heads is, will my headers still fit?

Yes they will fit fine, only time you will have trouble is if you go to a spread port race head or they say you need certain ones for gt40's but most headers can be used on gt40ps too, i know people have used your bbk headers on gt40p heads and just had to change one sparkplug boot angle.

I like TrickFlow. Look on corral.net, stangnet.com and racinjunk.com You can find nice used aluminum heads for good price's.

Texas, didn't you have issue'swith the patriots when you first got them and had to take them off to send them back?

I did.... the valve seals and valve guides were bad. The story that Gunner (from patriot) gave me was that the first 60 or sets had valve seals and guides from a new supplier and they were not meeting the tolerances.Patriot did not catch it until 60 or sets had been made. Patriot recalled them all and fixed them. Apparently they missed a few sets and I was lucky enough to get them. They were removed, rebuilt and put back on at no cost to me and I have been very happy with the results. My car is a totally different beast with themover stock. It was major power gains with the 185's. I have no complaints with Patriotcustomer service, or the heads, they did me right.
