how easy is it to tune a carbed car?


my brother is asking me all kinds of questions about 'stangs, but the one hes looking at is carbed, and idk jack about carb's

its no that hard, you just change the jet size to get the correct a/f ratio.

Ok, so if i were to buy a topend kit from trickflow....

that is for fuel injected... what would i need to do to convert the wiring harness???

Would a normal wiring harness work for a 1988 5.0 from painless... or would what would i need... since my car is an 84... i have no idea.. im new to all the car stuff... and everybody around here is wanting me to look at other options.... Soooo, what all would be needed to do this?

I would stick with the carb setup IMO for the ease of things considering this is your first build. Going EFI is gonna cost more coin than just sticking an edelbrock 600 on with the setup your looking at (GT-40's, TFS 1 cam) and maybe a set of long tubes......they are like a $100 from Jegs.

yea i agree stick with carb, id go with a holley 650 street carb

well you kinda over paid for the motor, but to have a good port job done your looking about $350
i paid $250 for a complete running motor out of a wrecked 5.0 explorer so just be paitent man, if you rush into this you will be broke WAY before the motor is done. i acculy have a complete motor for sale that is ready to be crated up and shiped to you if you wanna go that route? and its not that expensive either. pm me for info if you wanna no about it. its ruffly 345hp. it dynoed at 366hp at the crank soooo say 330-345hp at the wheels

hahah and how much are you wanting for this motor?

Well i live in Bel Aire....

But i work at the mall on the east side of town so my car is at the mall a lot by the Bank of America parking lot... i don't have a set schedule so i can't tell you when i would be there...
