No more Maryland emissions
Just to let inform Maryland tagged mustangs that are 20yrs old or older that theycan apply for Historic tags and will no longer have to do the sniffer test. I own a 1990 gt and just went thru emissions for the last time (Maryland Emissionsis every two years), so now I can run with no cats and never have to switch back. Plus the registration is only 51 dollars every two years. I know it is suppose to only be driven a limited number of miles a year, butthey don’t ask for the current mileage and don’t check. My stang is a daily driver!

Its federal law that your car has to have cats. If you get stopped, and a officer decides to look... he can whack you a $10000 fine PER CAT that is missing
and your car came with 4

RE: No more Maryland emissions
^^^^the only thing MD cops ever look for around here are cracked windshields , broken tail lights or out lights or excessively loud but even that doesn't really phase them.. more so the tail light , tag light excuse......but the whole emission thing is a little to late for me in Md I moved to WV right over the line where we have no emissions ftw!!!!

RE: No more Maryland emissions
Well, I just found this info out so I thought I would pass it on to my fellowMd stangersAddermk2 I am a police officer and wouldn't and don't know of any officers that would lay on the ground to look under acar to see if it had cats or not. Most cops wouldn't even know what a cat looks like LOL. I don'tknow where you live but I feel sorry for you if the police are cross trained as emission inspectors. But I'm going to be running no cats ftw!

RE: No more Maryland emissions
In Ct it's 25 years before you don't have to pass emissions. I just sold my 89 which was running 2.5 inch pipe from the headers to 3 inch turned and dumped out the side under the doors. Just straight pipe. My new toy is a 79 pace car, and I'm debating what to run out the side. I'm thinkin the same thing right behind the doors with 12 inches of chrome pipes and 45 degree miters on the pipes to run flush with the body. It looked good on the 89.
