Default big day tomorrow!

Well as some of you know I've been waiting paitiently to save money for my gear install. I never could save enough to do it so a friend and I will be doing his 4.10s and my 3.90s tomorrow. I'm hopingwe don't run into any snags. My friend has a 00 Gt and has done gears before and has a full print out of directions that we found on line just in case.

I'll let you guys know how it goes and I know some of you were wondering how the 3.90s were in my car.

Well I said I'd let people know my out come yesterday so basically never had time to do mine. We had a huge problem with his install kit which didn't come with shims that we needed.[:@]His 4.10 are from Motive and we know now to always use Ford Racing. the Motive install kit sucked because the smallest shim was .019 which makes no sense at all. And of course we did it on Sunday when everyone is closed except AutoZone but they suck anyway. We wasted a couple of hours looking for a .007 shim but no luck. We ended finding a .011 shim and I guess it worked out ok. He's got a slight wine noise but he'll have to deal with it for now.We did this at his work which is a salvage yard calledCamaro Heaven because it has a lift with all the tools but the damn place had no shims! I guess I might have to do mine next weekend if I can.[&o]

you need to call steve at ford racing and talk to him on the motive 4.10's cause motive makes them for ford also..ford racing doesn't make their own 4.10's ....as for the wine did you check backlash??? and most 8.8's require a .020 to .035 max pinion shim if your talking about needing a .007...you might wanna call steve at ford racing and ask him..last time I talked to him about the 4.10's which I don't plan to install yet , he asked me if I had motive 4.10's and I said no not yet and I asked why?? he said there is a little different procedure that needs to be done so they don't make noise.. I never asked him what cause I wasn't concerned with doing mine yet as I haven't even the money to buy a new set yet

His pinion measurementwas a little off because didn't have the correct size shims. Backlash was .007. I'll getmore details of measurements when I hear back from him. I didn't get to hear the whine but he says it's not too bad. Also it makes me a little nervous now because I've got Motives as well. I need to call around for extra shims other than .019 that motive gives you.
