Default AOD torque converter questions

i just bought a 90 LX with an AOD in it. the AOD has a street terminator kit installed in it from lentech(i have the reciept). it is puking tranny fluid out of it pretty bad (at the inspection plate). at 1st it only did it when the trans was hot. now today i put a new front pump seal on it, and it didn't help it. drained the fluid, and it didn't smell burnt and no chunks in it. put it back togther, and still leaks, but now it doesn't even need to warm up. i'm guessing this to be a converter problem. the reciept shows he got a new converter from lentech, when trans work was done. says he got a 9.5in non locking converter. i'm wondering if this converter is too small. all the converters from jegs show 11-12in converters for AODs. if this is the case is there anything i need to do to get a larger converter to fit to my tranny? are converters universal? can i run a TCI, or B&M, or a cheapy from ebay?

its smaller because its a high stall converter. the smaller they get the higher the stall rate. as for puking did you check the vent? all transmissions and rears have a vent if it gets clogged it has no way to relieve pressure so fluid will find its way out of other places

dont go cheap on a converter, you will regret it. its not something to cheap out on, you will be very dissapointed.

check vent as stated and make sure the filter is not clogged and when installing convertor..usually I grease the hub as to let hub slide past seal without rolling the lip on it

It could be the converter snout, check it for signs of gouging.

look at the front good also make sure the pump housing is not cracked. also if the front pump bushingis worn it will leak no mater what you do. a lot of times if you over heat the trans the snout of the conv. will gall the front bushing and make them leak. with that small of a conv. you will need a LARGE trans. cooler also so if you don't have one you will need one.
