Default Mustang won't start

I have an 88 GT. Other than a crane fireball ignition and a rear-mounted battery, the entire starting system is stock. I thought it was just a dead battery because the car just clicks when I try to start it. But when I go to jump the car it doesn't even bog the other car down when I attach the jumper cables and all it will do is click even after the cars have been hooked up for several minutes. I am using good jumper cables so that shouldn't be a problem. I also tried jumping the car from under the hood by hooking to the cables coming directly from the starter but it caused a huge spark from under the car (near the starter) and I lost all power. Any advice please??? Thanks.

If it is just clicking and you are not turning over it sounds like you need a starter. But first double check all grounds really well. A loose/dirty ground can cause similar problems.

Sounds like a starter problem.Take it in and have it checked to be sure.

before you take anything off sprinkle baking soda on where the wires connect to the starter solenoid, maybe its just corroded.
my f150 did it, had to push start it haha. i just sprinkled that on it, scrupped it a little with an old tooth brush and good as new.
