Default stock fuel pump question

Just wondering if anyone can tell me what will happen to my motor after driving a built 331 (400horse crank) and using my stock fuel pump. The problem is i have a full tank of fuel, can't find a reliable way to syphon it, and just want to run it dry cuz i will be changing this pump and sending unit in the street (don't have a garage currently to work in, so this entire motor swap has been done in the street). So, if i drive the car around town and keep it under lets say 3500 rpm's will i be safe? or is even idling it bad for the engine that has 5k on it currently. thanks in advance!
