I am looking to buy a '91 stang. There is one at a dealership near my house. It is a '91 convertible, green with a white top. It has an automatic in it. The place wants $3995 for it. What are some things I should look for? I plan on driving it tomorrow. Hows the price? Thanks in advance.

 

if the body and top are in good shape.should be a good deal.watch for smoke from tailpipes and knock on start up. look it over good.ask for carfax. a good honest place will not have anything to hide.

 

but of coarse ALWAYS try to talk 'em down. this car probably has been paid for a few times over.

 

I gave 3200 for mine. It needs a top and has a crack in the front bumper that doesn't go all the way through it. More like a scratch. I would check the exhaust.The stock mufflers are aluminum and rust out. See if it has an aftermarket head gasket sticking out of the head some. The front seals are bad to leak, check that. Oil pan gaskets aren't an easy fix. And if you want to go fast then don't buy an automatic.

 

I have the exact same color combo, only with a 5-speed... I snagged mine for 3K a year ago. had a few bolt ons, some dumb side exhaust and the leather seats were shot...

 

You're going to be paying top $$$ at a dealership...I'd see if you cantalk them down to around 3k....they're all hungry!
