considering a 5.0
#12
Buy a 5.0l fox, change the suspension (at least lowers, subframes and springs), put in a roll cage, driveshaft loop, install some 4:30 gears, get some 31 spline axles and a set of stickies. Spray the Sh-it out of it (250-300 wet shot) and hold the f uck on for two runs before you hear a very loud "bang" and either your tanny lets go or you split your block. Either way you'll still be out 8-9 grand and have a piece of junk lying around to rust. (not that's there's anything wrong with a rat rod look, just doesn't gimme my jollies). Fact of the matter is that it's a very costly hobby if you wanna do it right** a reliable 10 second car just isn't possible without a lot of money and a lot of work. Ask anyone here, any real wrench turner and they'll all tell you the same thing. It doesn't come easy, nothing in life comes easy. Realistically a cheap 9-10 second ride isn't possible unless you do as already stated and by a 1000cc crotchrocket ...been there done that... it gets old after your first season. You think your badass untill a car pulls up next you that can go just as fast and pull a bigger wheelie and weighs 3000 pounds more. Then you get the bug, then you start to do it the right way, start from the rear up and build a reliable car. I've got 25 grand in mine and still haven't touched the engine. Still just a 13.4 car @ 102. But damnit I can do that 15 times a day within a tenth of eachother, drive two hours home and park it for the night knowing that she'd do the same thing for me tomorrow. Unless daddies made of money life is a bitch, and it always will be. Someone had to tell ya.
Sorry for the rant... one of those days.
