Default almost overheating

so it was like 65 degrees sat. and was nice out so i was driving for about 1/2 hour just on main roads, and of course flooring it sometimes, but never going above 85 mph. My temp gauge was already on top of the half way mark. so is this normal? and at what point becomes to hot for the engine? its a stock rad too. no visible leaking either

I think with the gauge running halfway would be pretty warm.

i would check coolant level, coolant condition and radiator condition. if all is well, i would get an aftermarket temp gauge, its possible the stock gauge is dying (not that its all that accurate even when it was new)
