If it was a bearing problem it most likely wouldn't be bouncing and would be constant. You are going to get lower oil pressure at warm idle regardless but bouncing down to 0 makes me think it is your sending unit or gauge. I think a new sending unit is somewhere around 10 bucks so it is worth a try.

Its normal for oil pressure to drop as the engine warms... oil becomes much thinner at operating temp....

But before you freak out and decide to troubleshoot a low oil pressure issue, your first step would be to confirm that you are actually losing oil pressure and not just your signal. The stock gauge is inaccurate, and the stock sending units are.... less than perfect. Get an actual gauge on it.

There is no spec either. 10lbs of pressure per 1000 rpms is all you need.

...mine did the same thing, eplaced the sending unit, did the same thing...PUT on an Auto Meter mech. gauge and the oil pressure was fine!! 60psi cold, 30psi hot (idol pressure)....Can't trust those stock gauges!

Definitely get a good sending unit and gauge first. Chances are if you really had 0 oil pressure at idle, you'd hear the car rattling away. Stock gauges are so inaccurate it's a joke really.

WRONG. A lot of the time when that **** starts happening you wont feel it, but when it starts getting real ****ed up itll rear its ugly head with knocks/vibrations.

Like suggested before, pull the sending unit out and get an actual gauge on it, rule of thumb is 10psi per 1000rpm

and while the oil pressure dropping as the car heating up is true, but only to an extent. Youre not gonna have normal pressure and then it just fall on its face when it warms up. Get real dude..... Maybe if you have a real ****ed up gauge.
