Default 89 5.0 Crown Vic

I am about to pull a 5.0 out of a 89 Crown Vic(148k) w/ my bro today. We are getting the engine free so we jumped on it to use on a fun street Fox/beach buggie/whatever.

I know some of the 5.0s had forged pistons. Did I get lucky w/ this one???? We plan on camming it at lease and exhaust no matter what it goes into. It is EFI too. I was thinking of using the computer to do Megasquirt. Any other ideas??? THanks

crown vic was non h.o, it does not have forged pistons and has a non h.o firing order so to use with a sefi mustang set up and fox ecm you'll need to swap to a cam with an h.o firing order

So, in other words, I couldnt build this 5.0 like a mustang since the firing order and crankshaft are different???

Sorry, I am familiar w/ modular engines but, not as much w/ pushrods.

Crank's the same, just the top-end is different. H/C/I is all that's different. Megasquirt would be way over-kill for an engine with just a cam, and a big tuning head-ache, you should just get a factory computer and harness. We've been trying to get a car to run properly for about a month now on megasquirt, little bit of a race car this one though.
