Glad to hear you're getting everything together and making progress.
I'm kinda in a similar boat with an aod powered lx vert with 2.73 gears, totally stock at the moment. I won't change it out to a T5 though. It's for my wife and I both to enjoy and she can't drive stick.... Not totally sure where to start, but I'm thinking a rear gear change and beef up the tranny.
I did score another aod with a Lentech valvebody, TCI 3800 stall converter and aluminum driveshaft. Plan to sell off the converter (too high of a stall) and possibly the valvebody and just go through the tranny.

I would recommend 3.73 gears, and that new transmission with a 2500rpm stall. that would really wake it up.
I dropped a complete second off my 1/4 mile time, just swapping from the AOD to the Cobra T5 I have now, BTW

my car started out as a bolt on AOD with 2.73 gears..... look where it is now, hahahaha

I don't plan to race the car, so it must remain streetable and reliable. Gas mileage doesn't really matter.

Thanks for the tip. Would you take the 3.73 gears over a set of 4.10? I see mixed opinions on that with an AOD tranny. On the converter, I was thinking a 3000 stall, but maybe that's too much stall. Long term plan is a re-built block with aluminum heads/intake.

a 3000 stall is to big with stock heads/cam. you will be in and out of your powerband before you know it! you will need to shift at 5000. 2500 would be about a perfect stall with stock heads/cam.

Cool. Maybe I can time my top end/engine upgrades the same time I buy a new converter. If the 4.10s are such a crazy difference, then I'll go with the 3.73's. I don't imagine they're that difficult to change out, so I can always do something different later on if need be.
So much to do...
