overheating
i have an 89 gt that i bought 4 years ago with 90,000 miles. i recently changed the thermostat, then the car started overheating. i then assumed that i could of put the thermostat backwards even thought i got the wrong temperature thermostat, but i didnt it match the old one. my next option was to put back the old thermostat, but made no difference; it still overheates!!

When the car is cool, pop off the radiator cap. Let the car warm up. You will see the coolant flowing and see it start to rise. If there is air in the system, you will see tiny bubbles popping When it starts to overflow, throw the cap back on. If you saw small bubbles still popping up, repeat, but only when the car is still cool. Now would be a good time to replace the radiator cap too. Also, how hot is the car getting?

When you fill a car back up with antifreeze after doing a repair like that. Like some one stated earlier take the radiator cap off.
Let the car get warm turn the heat on inside to get everything circulating, and when you see the fluid level drop inside the radiator, keep topping it off until,it's full and stops taking antifreeze.
Put the cap back on the radiator and top off the overflow and you should be allset.
