Default Problem After Problem.

Okay so i just picked up this 85 5.0L mustang 2 weeks ago..

I found out the frame rail is rotted on the passenger side, the clutch is slipping, the rear end is on its way out, the car over heats and the radiator is spraying everywhere, and theres an oil leak..

WTF!

I honestly would have just held off on that fox. As soon as i heard that the temp gauge was unplugged and the thermostat was sticking .. i knew it wasnt good. Im sure he unplugged the temp gauge on purpose. never go after the first one you find.

shiney paint doesn't always mean it is kosher on the inside, as I found out for sure with my 89 I'm working on

yeah i know exactly what you mean mjr.. i learned my lesson BIG time on this one..

a new rad, new clutch, new rear end, fixing oil leak ( comming from around oil pan ).. gonna be a HUGE bill.. I work full time now and wouldnt have anywhere close to enough time to repair the stuff my self.. I dont even know if its worth it tbh

if you got the proper tools you could bang out that entire list minus the rear end in 1 sleepless night.

Try down south in the states, no snow, no salt, no problems with rust. Damn the luck man. Take car to a trusted mechanic and have a much longer test drive. Hard lesson.

radiator... maybe will take you 1 hr tops to do it... all that takes is drain the coolant...15 mins if that... un bolt upper and lower rad hoses... 2 mins unbolt fan shroud from rad and then unbolt the radiator retaining brackets... 5 mins... slide radiator out.. then put it back together put a new thermo in it... fill itb back up.... done in 1 hr... tops...

clutch... I dunno I think thats a several hr job if the flywheel doesnt need to be resurfaced... dont hld me to it...

sell it

I just bought a silla radiator that fits perfect without having to change brackets and hoses. It cools the car to 160 degrees without the fan working in 85 degree weather. it was 189 shipped.
