Default best electric fan kit?setup.

I definitely need to change over to electric fans in my 84. Just want to know what you have been using, and what works the best. I'm kinda looking for one with a thermostat included.
I'm just trying to fix my old 84 for christmas, before i get deployed. :/

Where you from? I am based at Ft. Hood as a Bradley Mechanic.

First off you will want to swap over to a 3g alt so you don't kill your battery with the fan. Alot of people use the Taurus dual fan or the lincoln Mark VII fan. Both can be found at the junkyard for a cheap price. The fan controller is not included but you can pic on up from DCC for a pretty good price too.

right now im at Ft. Eustis, va. im still in my AIT, but i graduate jan 26th. Im a Blackhawk Mechanic.

I'm pretty sure i have a high output alternator on there. but i'm not too sure. that sounds good, but i was looking more into a brand new kit.

Good luck on those Bradleys.

I've had it for a while now. Its an 84 former California highway patrol car. so it has the police package, but im really not sure what is else done to it. the guy that had it before me used to race and build drag cars. he told me it had roller rockers, but ive never looked to confirm. but i didnt think they had a roller block in 84.

Having roller rockers has nothing to do with it being a roller block.

You still do not have a 3g because of the police package. The previous owner might have installed one though. Get some pics up!

thats true huh. I know i have to, of both my stangs. it used to stay cool, but then i converted the front end to the newer style front. then all it wants to do is overheat. and the front end looks like it doesnt really give out good air flow. ive seriously replaced everything besides switching to electric fans. its the only option i have left i guess.

Its most likely because you didn't burp the cooling system after.

The hole or valve on the thermostat should be in the 12 o'clock position when installed. I drill an 1/8th hole approximately an 1/8th inch from the top of the thermostat if it doesn't have one.

You could also try to stick something in the fan, that will flex a bit, to see of you can stop or slow the fan at idle. Or pull it to see if the fan clutch is leaking. Most likely when you hammer on the gas a bit, it is not spinning at all from the slip of the clutch.
Most people go to the electric set-up if it has to be replaced unless you want to keep the stock look.

If you chose a set up that is non adjustable. Make sure you get the OFF temperature higher than your thermostat temperature.
