that's a very bold statement. my 347/100 shot/3550 will hook just fine. good tires and some modest suspension upgrades and you're ok.

LOL, bafoon or not that is what Ford claimed to to stand for LOL I have seen it a few times myself with that claim... There is a few over on the turbo forums that claim over 600 hp and the trans are still stock. I am looking to find out, if I can round up the cash to do one. I got the trans it was a freebie.. so that much of the price was right. some good reading on them over a click click racing...

you really should. i am the perfect auto trans candidate cuz i spray my car.... i will NEVER own an auto. or i should say i will never race an auto in my stang.... i have owned 2 aod cars and the rest t5's stick cars are incredibly more fun to drive. autos bore me... i could care less if they can be .1 more consistent

if you do other than c4... go lentech

and yes... once you have OD they are waaaaay more expensive than 5-speeds or a c4, you could easily have 4 grand wrapped up in a sufficient od auto trans w/ the right converter and valvebody

on the street? you need to show me how its done...maybe with the auto...i wouldn't think so with a 5-speed...I promise i will set my car up that way if it works

+1 on the 5-speed being cheaper than the od transmission...a used t-5 conversion would be about the same as the built c-4 conversion

i won't be launching nearly as high on the street but yes i do believe it'll still hook just fine on the street with a small launch or track with a good launch. it's very possible.

Hard to beat a well biult C-4.
The pan-fill types are a little more durable I'm told than the case-fill types.
I've been using the same one for drag racing for about 3 years with a manual valve body, shifts are instant and the unit is just about maintiance free.
I do filter/fluid twice a year........

Even with how durable the c4 is in stock form I still have managed to break mine 3 times. I some how screwed up the sun gear in my c5 I had. It would do nothing but grind under any type of acceleration over half throttle.
Then I swapped that for an older c4 and busted the low/rev band strut into 6 pieces.
After replacing the little plate I then busted my bell housing and it has been parked ever since.

man the 5 speed is the way to go ive owned alot of both had a vega with 3 speed manual and a monte carlo with a th350 and mustang's on both sides of the bench and once you learn how to do it and get right at it its alot more fun to drive and you don't have to worry about fluid levels as much or changeing a filter, and the weight difference is tramatic.... lol

The 4R70W is a great transmission. The drawback is the computer control. If I go auto, I will go C4 as well with a good converter and manual valvebody. It won't be too bad with 3.55 gears. About 2800 @ 60mph I think with 26" tall tires is where I'm at in 4th gear in my T-5 now.
