Default Two questions....

I was wondering...

1. My driver's side door lock locks and unlocks the doors every so often. If I press, lock, unlock, lock, unlock, back and forth, sometimes it will engage and sometimes it will not. Any ideas?

2. a) I have a window on the passengers side that will not go down. Neither the switch on the driver nor passenger's side work but every so often the window will go down and up. Any ideas?
b) I looked at the door panel and was wondering, if I need to change the window motors, how do I get in between the door and the metal frame that encloses the window? It lloks like that is welded to the door.....

1. bad door lock switch possibly

2. bad window motor possibly, IIRC the motors are rivited to the door

How do I change the motors? Is this very difficult?

1/2" drill bit drill rivet that holds lock motor just enough to drive center out. Lift motor has 5/16" head bolts. Use same bit on dimple inside door so can access bolts.

Does your passenger side door lock button work in unlocking both doors alright?

It's hard to say then. My switch is bad in my driver's side, the passenger side lock switch unlocks and locks both doors just fine. If neither lock switches work on unlocking or locking the driver's side door, then it could be the door lock actuator.

i just changed everything in my doors, locks, actuaters, weather stripping etc.it's not that bad.you probably have sloppy windows too, look at 50resto,or foxrestoration for bushings you need to round with rivets and two square.take my advice and strip everything out at once.i tried doing it piece at a time and it was a real hassle. but allso check for broken wires in the rubber that goes from door to piller.my door are like new.getting to everything was quite easy once you have the window out and know were to put your hands.
