so i just replaced my passenger's exterior door handle and now the door wont lock. the rod that locks and unlocks the door seems to get stuck. if i try to open it with the key from the outside i can't fully rotate the key to lock the door. any help please

 

Got power door locks? If yes, replace actuator. Bubba

 

yes i got power locks. can i just disconnect the actuator from the locking mechanism?

 

when the actuator gets stuck you cant move the rod a common problem just a rivet on the inside of the door if you drill it out and then you can move the rod thats what the problem was if not its something else

 

and if i remove that actuator then ill be able to lock and unlock my door from the outside?

 

ok thanks! i drilled the rivet that was holding the actuator and problem solved! I just need to unhook the actuator that is connected to the locking mechanism

 

yeah mine is just drilled out, you can hear it thunk around inside the door lol...

 

Hello, new here.
My drivers side door also won't lock. I have automatic locks but they don't work. What does the rivet look like that you drill out? I don't want to fix the automatic locks, i jsut want to be able to lock it with the key.
