My basketcase 85 GT

My basketcase 85 GT
Hi guys. I'm new here. My name is Matt. I recently aquired(rescued) this 85 GT. It supposedly has a 92 or 93 5.0 engine and T5 tranny. When it's running, it runs pretty strong. I currently don't have it running due to some hack-job wiring, powersteering and pulley issues that need to be addressed first. As you will see from the pics, I have some work cut out for me.
Let me know what you guys think of her so far.
I'm gonna be in the market for a console and some dash pieces soon also.
Dirty!
Needs some tidying up here.
Will someone explain to me why factory wiring is inadequate to deem this necessary.
Don't ask. I've not been able to come up with answer myself.
BTW, I only have $120 in her so far, and that's in a few parts and titling fees. Not bad, huh?

THOR74, yeah, an oil change with a good filter is somewhere toward the top of a LONG list.
mjr46, do you like the Honda battery as well? Yeah she's a tad slow to crank right now.
Bodywise, the car is in great shape. There's a rough spot on the drivers fender and nose, it needs a new windshield, gaskets and weatherstripping needs replaced, door hinge pins, and it needs the hatch and hood strikers adjusted. A friend of mine has two sets of 87-93 quarter glass, so I'll eventually change out the slotted quarter vents.
Interior mainly just needs cleaned REALLY good, a console lid, and top dash pad. Oh Yeah, and a shifter ball. I'm not too fond of the pistol grip. I'll eventually look into some aftermarket seats with matching rear upholstery. Most everything else can be fixed with some paint and some hardware to replace back what the PO didn't.
I need to change the springs. The PO lowered the front. I'm not sure how, and really don't want to know how, to be honest. I will probably go ahead and upgrade to either FRPP or Eibach springs. I'll also be beefing up all the suspension components and adding subframe connectors. I live in east Tennessee, so there's lots of curvy roads. I'm also about 45 min. away from US129-The Dragon, so I want this car to carve some corners.
I'll eventually go to 17" wheels and tires when I convert to 5-lug, but for now I'm gonna get some decent tires for my Pony wheels. Is 245/50/16 a good tire size for all four corners?
My main focus as of now, though, is to make it a safe and dependable driver. I've got some wiring schematics, so I can try to track some of these problems down. Most of them are under the hood. Under the dash is actually somewhat untouched other than two or three little connections. Most of those are radio stuff.
